In 1865 George Hudson started a small taxi service, driving locals to work from Longtown and the surrounding areas. His son, George Jr expanded the business, investing a pair of Rolls Royce cars for weddings and funerals.
Peter Hudson, George Jr's son, took over the company and established the well-known funeral directors it is to this day.
Today George Hudson & Son Funeral Directors is run by Peter’s daughter Mary and her husband Bruce Harris – and in recent years their own children, Adam and Emily, have become the latest generation to join the family business.
